In order to reduce harmful NOx emissions, most new trucks in North America are now equipped with a Selective Catalytic Reduction (SCR) system which requires the use of diesel exhaust fluid (DEF).
In SCR-equipped vehicles, BlueDEF is to be carried in specially designed tanks and is dosed into the SCR system at a rate equivalent to 2-5% of regular diesel consumption. The low dosing rate of BlueDEF helps improve fuel economy allowing fleets to realize a reduction in overall operating costs as well as environmental impact.
